LV Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Vineyard Homestead - Silt loams over alluvial gravels. Barewood - Silt and old gravels over clay.

Grapes were handpicked from young vines from two distinctive sites in the Awatere Valley; Louis' Homestead Block in the Lower Dashwood and our Barewood Vineyard at 400m elevation on a sheltered hillside. Juice was fermented in new and seasoned French barriques. A large component fermented with wild yeasts, and a part was inoculated with a selected yeast strain. The wines were sulphured in the winter before malolactic fermentation could occur, in order to retain the natural acidity. After almost a year in oak the wines were racked and the blend was bottled unfiltered. This is a sophisticated expression of classic Awatere Sauvignon Blanc. It shows why the variety has a natural home here, and the winemaking has built layers of flavour, complexity and enhanced texture into the wine. All without stifling the vivacity and drive that the variety is famous for.

This collection of wines has been made in a stylistically bold manner. The focus is on purity, texture, concentration and longevity, with a hell of a lot of personality!

Your delivery must be accepted in person by someone over the age of 18. We have warehouses in both the North and South Islands, so orders may come in split deliveries depending on stock availability at these locations.
